Journal 16 -- On the road again

Well, I thought that I would take this journal to catch you up on my stories and adventures on the road. As an independent musician, the most important part of my job is touring and getting my music out there. Traveling and playing concerts is the backbone of my music ministry! And guess what? It's my favorite part of the job!

I am now home for a few days, after being "on the road" for the last few weeks. In two and half weeks I played 8 concerts, traveled over 1200 miles, visited 6 different cities, and shared my songs with almost 550 people! It has been a long few weeks, but very rewarding!

My sister joined me on the road two weeks ago when we traveled to Auburn University for a concert. I played a coffee house downtown Auburn, and we had a great time. We met some wonderful people and stayed the night with a good friend of mine. Chris Tomlin's Indescribable tour was also in town that night, and I thought we would have trouble getting people to come to my concert. But, we didn't, and it worked out perfect for Elaine and I to catch the end of Chris's concert after mine! It was great! After a short break, I hit the road for Greenville, SC where I played at Mauldin Middle School. I spent the day sharing my songs with the 7th graders and talking to them about creative writing and steps I use when writing songs! I felt like a teacher giving a seminar. The kids responded well, and seemed to be very interested in my music. It was a great day! I then traveled to Eatonton, GA where I played at The River Of Life church! It was one of my favorite concerts. The people were so great and energetic, and the sound team even recorded the entire show! So, you may be hearing some "live" versions of my songs soon! After leaving the church energized and alive, I lead worship at UGA's Fellowship of Christian Athletes on Thurs. Friday morning, I hit the road for Augusta where I met up with the guys who play in my band. We spent the day together rehearsing for our spring tour dates together. After leading worship that night, I headed to Columbia, SC in the rain, for a show at Cafe Corner.
All in all, it was a wonderful few weeks with alot of driving, but more importantly, alot of ministering and singing to many different people.

On a different note, while I was in Augusta, I visited with a good friend on Saturday. Her name is Maggie, and she has been out of the country for about 6 months, and she is now back in the states. We had coffee and talked about life and friendships. She told me about life abroad and her many travels! It was so great to see her and hear about her travels as she lived in France!

Well...I'm back home now, and enjoying a little down time in Athens. I will spend time here catching up with my relationships here and begin preparing for my next stretch on the road in a few weeks.

Playing in a travelin' band! Even if it is a one man band :)
