I've been spending most of my time in music lately leading people in worship. It's an incredible honor to lead people to the throne of God. However, it's also an incredibly humbling task at times. As a worship leader, I am called to engage people through song and encourage them to express their hearts and souls to our Creator. A Creator who is indescribable, and who's attributes outnumber the stars in the universe. How do you describe a God who is indescribable? This is a question I find myself asking quite often.
As a worship leader, I want people to grasp the depth of Christ's love, and realize the depravity of our souls without Christ. I want them to understand that He is more than enough to satisfy their longing hearts. I want them to get a glimpse of the cross and express their gratitude for His sacrifice. I want them to sing to their King! Yet, as a person, I struggle with these same things. How do I lead people in worship to a Holy God when I have trouble grasping the love of Christ myself? When I find the weight of this task on my heart, I always look back to Christ and His sacrifice. He is more than enough for me.
As Chris Tomlin so eloquently puts it in his song Enough
All of You, is more than enough for, all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You is more than enough
Satan so often attacks me with lies before I take the stage...the same lies He probably throws at you. He tries to tell me I'm inadequate, or that I'm not worthy to be leading. He'll bring up my past and my mistakes and throw them in my face. Insecurities will creep into my mind.
And, he's right...in and of myself, I'm not worthy. BUT, in Christ...I am worthy...Because HE is more than enough and conqueres satan. He holds my past, and forgives my mistakes. I can confidently stand before God's people and lead them in worship because He is more than enough and His love can completely satisfy me...if I let it. The Cross of Christ has delivered us from satans grip and has given us authority and freedom. He is enough to satisfy me and His love completes us!
"All of You, is more than enough for, All of me" Praise God!
